Handbags of Hope - Beth Handbag
Tell everyone that you love the earth. Wide strips of color newspaper pages show that you recycle with style. Artisans carefully weave wide and narrow strips to produce a bold and functional fashion statement.
Each â??Beth Handbagâ?? is completely unique and is made from unused newspapers in the Philippines by women artisans who are supporting their families through their craft. The families all live at Manilaâ??s Smokey Mountain, once the worldâ??s largest garbage dump, and used to survive by scavenging for recyclables. The womenâ??s cooperative that produces this handbag provides alternative work opportunities that are safe, dignifying, and creative.
